EnterpriseAlumni campaigns for investors to back female-led firms and for firms to keep in touch with former employees
Published: March 7, 2024
The #BeMyAngel campaign launched by Emma Sinclair MBE, co-founder and CEO of EnterpriseAlumni, on the eve of International Women's Day, seeks to address the significant disparity in venture capital funding between male and female entrepreneurs in the UK.
CEO Emma Sinclair MBE emphasizes the potential economic impact of equalizing startup opportunities for women, suggesting that up to £250 billion could be added to the UK economy. Her observation on the funding gap: "Women therefore rely disproportionately on angels whose contribution is currently at a 10-year low."
The #BeMyAngel initiative represents a dual effort to correct gender imbalances in startup funding and to revolutionize the way companies view and manage their relationships with former employees.
EnterpriseAlumni boasts a gender-balanced mix of backers and a global staff of 85, and is set for significant growth, with a projected annual recurring revenue of £25 million for 2025/26.
Emma Sinclair MBE on the importance of connecting with former employees: “The cost of recruitment is rising, and short tenure and contingent labour forces more common. Companies spend a fortune sourcing, hiring and upskilling only then to say ‘Thanks goodbye’. We provide a modern approach to corporate alumni and social relationships, enabling continuity which can include perks, direct feeds, events, and newsletters."
